SQL Dashboard – V2

Filed under: Exadata, RAC — Jagjeet Singh @ 12:58 am

Quick Post – I had some fun last weekend with SQL Dashboard, thought it deserves a post. As you can see in attached video now dashboard supports wait graph in colors directly from SQL*Plus  🙂  wait a minute

Well, we all know sql*plus does not support colors, However, I could simulate that using Iterm2 (Mac terminal client) by assigning colors to specific legends.

I have received several emails to make code compatible with 10g, unfortunately it is not possible due to dependency on 11g dictionaries. I have fixed several bugs and publishing 11g R2 and 11g R1 version.

Only noticeable enhancement is graph with wait events.

  12. Sql Dashboard can also be used for single instance if GV$ views are installed. Can be installed by running catclustdb.sql on single instance.

  14. Hi,

    I am trying to run your tool but output seems all messed up…

    is there a setting that i need to set from SQLPLUS standpoint to get output like you have in the video?

    i tried different line size and that didnt helped either…

  15. Hi Max-

    Yes, there is setting. I apologies for not giving clear information here.

    1- you can download the latest one which I haven’t blogged as still working for some corner cases.

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/40978963/V2.1.zip

    in above zip, there is file named jhelp which tells example how to set various parameters. In nut-shell you have to set the *arraysize* at sql prompt equal to what value we pass to package.

    See below example – you can see “50” as number of lines were passed. reduce or increase based on your resolution.

    ## With All Defaults Values — Sample=6 Secs , Colors=Background Color, Default 3 Sysmetrics
    ~~~~~~~~~
    SET LINESIZE 5000 pagesize 0 Arraysize 50 TAB OFF
    SELECT * FROM TABLE(JSS.GTOP(50));
    ~~~~~~~~~

    If you need further information/help, please reach out to me on jagjeet.malhi@gmail.com. Would be happy to work with you.

    thanks
